A survey was conducted on usual medical service charges at clinic-level medical institutions during the week-long period from January 5 to 12, 1976. Subjected to this survey were those medical practitioners in cities and provinces throughout the country. As a result of the survey, the following conclusing has been reached.
(1) Clinic-level medical institutions have been collecting medical service charges according to the service rate tables published by medical associations at various levels.
(2) According to the medical service rate tables, the applicable rates are generally higher in urban areas than in suburban areas, while they are charged at a lower rate in rural areas than in urban areas.
(3) When the service rates of specialized physicians are compared with those of general doctors, the specialized physicians¢¥ rates are higher, in general. But there were also some exceptions. In some cases, the general doctors¢¥ rates are also higher than specialized physicians¢¥, depending on the difficulty in medical treatment.
